Overview

Aventurine (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a book discovery app that helps readers find books they love through anonymous literary excerpts. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what we need to make the app work.

Information We Collect

• Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password, or the token provided by Sign in with Apple. We never see your Apple ID password.
• Reading activity. We store your swipe responses (yes / maybe / no) on excerpts, your saved books, and your reader profile. This data is used solely to personalise your recommendations within the app.
• Subscription information. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple via in-app purchase. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status. We do not store your payment card details.
• Device information. We collect basic device and OS information to diagnose crashes and improve performance. This data is not linked to your identity.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Aventurine service.
• To personalise your book recommendations.
• To verify your subscription status.
• To diagnose technical problems.
• To communicate with you about your account if you contact us.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored on Supabase-managed servers in the United States. See supabase.com/privacy.
• RevenueCat — subscription management. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
• Apple — in-app purchases and, optionally, Sign in with Apple. See apple.com/privacy.

Data Retention

We retain your account and reading data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Children’s Privacy

Aventurine is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
